MOROCCO '99

Ait Benhaddou

Along with the disappearance of the trade route there remains only a few families in the kasbahs now dependent on the visiting tourists. Lawrence, Sodom and Gomorrah and Jesus of Nazareth are a few of the movies filmed at this exotic location.

Ideally placed for the caravan trade through the Sahara, some of the buildings have been here since at least the sixteenth century.

has been the location for many famous films and is a perfect example of a Moroccan kasbah, a fortified and dynamic village built out of mudclay.
